Rooted in Community. Built on Heart.

My Brother's Table was born out of crisis — and stayed because of community.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo in 1989, neighbors came together to make sure no one on St. Croix went hungry. What began as an emergency response became something far more lasting. My Brother's Table was formally incorporated in 1993, and for more than 35 years, we have opened our doors every weekday — not because it is easy, but because it is right.

For decades, our kitchen was anchored by two extraordinary women — Rose Carty and Hyacinth George — who gave more than 32 years of their lives to this mission. Their dedication, warmth, and love for this community live on in every meal we serve.

Today, MBT continues to grow — welcoming new faces to the table, building toward a food pantry, and deepening our roots in Frederiksted and across St. Croix.

Our Leadership

Rev. Robert Wakefield — Executive Director

Rev. Robert Wakefield has served with My Brother's Table since its earliest days, stepping into the role of Executive Director after the passing of his longtime colleague, Pastor Rod Koopmans. A pastor of the St. Croix Reformed Church, Rev. Wakefield brings decades of faith-based community service to his leadership of MBT. His commitment to this mission is simple and unwavering: everyone deserves dignity, respect, and a warm meal.

Kyandra "Keke" Jones & Denzel Benjamin — Kitchen Staff

Kyandra Jones — known to everyone here as Keke — and Denzel Benjamin are the heart of our kitchen. Both started as volunteers, giving their time simply because they cared. When longtime staff members Rose and Hyacinth retired after more than three decades of service, Keke and Denzel stepped up — bringing that same spirit of dedication to their new roles as paid team members.

They are learning every day — not just the craft of cooking, but the pride of carrying on a legacy. With mentorship and training underway, Keke and Denzel represent the next generation of My Brother's Table: committed, community-rooted, and ready to lead.
